My wacky week

So its been a super busy week with Spring Mini Sessions. I haven’t really been able to throw something on except kick ball gear or running gear. As I said in past post I am training for a half marathon and every Friday I add an extra mile on until I get up to 13 miles. Today I ran 8 miles with a good friend of mine, we ran the whole 8 miles with no breaks (pace 12:38, calories 960, 1 hr 41 mins). I am proud of both of us, but next week I think we will take a few breaks. That 8 miles non stop was no joke! Since I haven’t been dressing this past week I will share some pictures of my kick ball team and some of my sessions from this week.. Enjoy!!

B Fab Awards Luncheon

Yesterday I attended the B Fab Awards Luncheon, this was my first blogger event and I had a great time meeting so many bloggers. I stated in my last post here I had no clue what to wear, well I decided on a neon yellow tank, leopard trousers, black short  sleeve blazer, and neon yellow strappy heels.

When first walking into the event  a photographer took your picture with the Tastemaker Magazine back drop.

After my picture I headed over to the Social Box booth, what an awesome concept! It’s a booth with a computer with a camera that links to your social media accounts. I took a few silly pictures and then linked my favorite to my Facebook wall (see pic below). You can rent the Social Box for any event (link provided).

I mingled and met some fab ladies and took a few pictures with them.

Kick ball any one?

So I started playing on a kick ball team for the spring, it’s so much fun! I thought this would be another great way to stay active & cross train while I get ready for my half marathon. I’m having a blast but I am so sore, I’m working other muscles in my legs I don’t use while running. A friend of mine that works out faithfully in the gym body building suggested a pre & post workout supplement. I cant wait to get my products in the mail and don’t worry I will leave you with a review when I test them out.

My first sewing project!

So I found this awesome blogger named Mimi G, she has great style and even makes some of her clothes. After following her blog for about 2 months I decided to take her free 4 week sewing class which you can find here.

Mimi gives you a list of items you will need to start your first sewing project:

  • Sewing Machine
  • Fabric
  • Fabric Lining
  • Invisible 9″ Zipper
  • Sewing Kit
  • Light Weight Interfacing
  • Pattern

She gives you helpful links to find all these items, below I will show you where I found mine.

Fabric, Fabric Liner & Invisible Zipper: Joann’s

I went to the store to decide what type of fabric I wanted to use, after some thought I decided to go to the clearance section and get something a little cheaper since it is my first project. So I decided on a pink & mint stripe fabric and for my fabric lining  pink to match.  I also grabbed a pink invisible 9″ zipper as she instructed.

Zipper: $2.49

Stripe Fabric: 6.00 a yard/ 1.5 a yard $9.00

Pink Liner: 4.99 a yard/ 1.5 yard 7.49 with 50% off coupon $3.75

Sewing Kit: Beverlys

Pattern: Simplicity

Sewing Machine: Khols

There is one item I’m missing and that is the light weight interfacing which I will pick up the next time I am out. I am super excited to start her class, just waiting on my items I ordered on line! I took sewing classes in in high school more then a decade a ago and my mom sews, lets hope I can remember some of those things I learned back in the day. I will keep you posted on how my sewing class is going. 😉

Last night I attended a  dinner party and one of the discussions was  weight loss/ working out.  A friend of mine told me I looked about a size 6, I was surprised because in my head I know I’ve been loosing weight but still felt like a 10. I never weigh my self I just go by the way my clothes fit me, so I pulled out a pair of skinny jeans and they read size 8! Wow I haven’t been a size 8 since before I had my son 15 years ago. Hard work really does pay off,  I am happy at this size and don’t want to lose any more weight so my plan is to maintain.

People ask me all the time how did I lose the weight and to be honest all I did is run at least 3 to 4 days a week (3 to 4  miles) . I started off as a walker/jogger and over time I finally exceeded my goal around 4 months and was able to run a full 3 miles without stopping. At 10 months I can now run up to 5 miles without stopping and ran my first 10k which is about 7 miles (I ran the first 5 miles then walked twice) the point is I finished! I just joined a women kick ball league for fun and I figure I can get in some cross training all at the same time, working out can be fun too!

I also use my Nutri Bullet and make yummy protein shakes, you can see my post on my Nutri Bullet here. The biggest question I get is about running shoes, I also wrote a blog on shoes you can check out here.

 Size 12 to 8

I am a busy wife/mother of a 1, 5, and 15 year old, if I can do it so can you NO EXSCUSES! 😉
